Felicia's Pink Picks

El Coto Rioja Rosado 2002 — This dry rosé from Spain is made from a blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Garnacha. It smells as pretty as it looks and gives off a notable hint of red cherry. ($9.99)

Iron Horse Vineyards 2003 Rosato di Sangiovese — Iron Horse Vineyards, one of the top sparkling wine producers from the Sonoma Valley in California, produces this vibrant rosé made from 100% Sangiovese. With good undertones of strawberries, this wine offers more style and substance than one would expect from a rosé. ($10)

Wölffer Estate Rosé 2002 — This winery is one of my personal favorites from Long Island, New York, producing a full line of beautiful wines, but the rosé is my top choice for summer. Unlike most roses, this one is a blend of red and white wine grapes — 85% Merlot with 15% Chardonnay to add a little zip. Bone dry in style with a lovely salmon color and taste of wild berries, this rose is understated elegance in a glass. ($12.50)

Château d'Aqueria Tavel Rosé, Estate Bottled 2002 — A true rosé classic from the Rhône Valley in France, this Tavel combines many of the grapes used to produce the "more serious" red Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The dry wine is deep in color and has good depth of flavor with a pleasant but not sweet fruitiness combined with some floral character. ($15)
